The Dr. Althea 0.1% Gentle Retinol Serum is built for retinol beginners and those with sensitive skin who want the anti-ageing benefits of retinol without the typical irritation. Pure retinol at 0.1% is paired with Bakuchiol — a plant-derived ingredient that complements retinol's action on fine lines, pore refinement, and skin texture while making the formula more tolerable overall.

The retinol is encapsulated for slow, gradual release — reducing the concentrated hit that causes redness and peeling. Panthenol at 1% and Birch Sap at 1% work together to soothe and hydrate throughout, so the skin stays comfortable even during the adjustment period. Soybean Oil adds a nourishing emollient layer without heaviness. The signature six-flower botanical complex — Hyacinth, Borage, Chamomile, Cornflower, Clary Sage, and Lavender — provides additional calming and anti-inflammatory depth.

Texture is lightweight and gel-like, absorbing quickly with no stickiness. Fragrance-free, paraben-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free. Vegan.
How to use
  • 01Use at night only. Apply after cleansing and toner, before moisturiser.
  • 02Weeks 1–2: 1–2 pumps every other night to let skin adjust.
  • 03Week 3 onward: 3–4 pumps nightly, or as skin tolerates.
  • 04Always follow with SPF the next morning — retinol increases UV sensitivity.
Retinol beginner tip Start slow and build up. If any dryness occurs, sandwich the serum between two layers of moisturiser. Avoid using alongside other active exfoliants (AHA/BHA) on the same night.
