Canadian GST Holiday Tax Break

Amuse Ground will be participating in the Government of Canada's Holiday GST Tax break this holiday season! Check out the items that will make shopping for this winter season a little easier

What is the 'GST Holiday Tax Break?'

The GST Holiday Tax Break is an initiative for Canadian shoppers by the Government of Canada. It is aimed at temporarily waiving the Goods and Services Tax (GST - 5%) on certain goods or services. This measure is designed to provide financial relief to consumers, especially during periods of economic stress, and stimulate spending in targeted sectors of the economy.

How will I receive the GST Tax Break?

The GST tax break will be automatically applied at the time of purchase for qualifying goods and services during the designated period from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025. For eligible items, you will see no GST (5%) charges on your receipt. However, if an item does not qualify under the tax break, the standard GST rate will be included in the final price, as usual.

This means that the advertised price of non-qualifying items will remain subject to the applicable 5% GST. The tax break will apply automatically at checkout—there is no need to apply or take further steps to benefit from this temporary relief

Who qualifies for the GST Holiday Tax Break?

The GST Holiday Tax Break is available to purchases made in Canada during the eligible period (December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025). All consumers making qualifying purchases within Canada can benefit, regardless of their nationality or residency status. However, the tax break only applies to purchases made within Canada.

This means that Americans or other international buyers shopping online from outside Canada will not qualify, as the tax relief is tied to the location of the purchase and delivery. To take advantage of the tax break, items must be purchased and delivered within Canada during the specified timeframe
