The Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum is the brand's most focused soothing formula — a single-purpose serum built to calm irritated, reactive, or UV-stressed skin as quickly and deeply as possible. It's formulated around three high-concentration actives with confirmed percentages: Green Tea Water (50.9%), Mugwort / Artemisia Capillaris Extract (30%), and Panthenol (5%). These three make up 85.9% of the formula, leaving only 14.1% for everything else — an unusually clean, purpose-built composition.

The green tea base is important: rather than dissolving actives in plain water, the formula uses Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water — a steam-distilled plant water with its own natural antioxidant compounds. Mugwort at 30% is the calming hero, widely used in Korean dermatological formulations for its rapid anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity. At this concentration, the effect on heat, redness, and irritation is typically felt on contact. Panthenol at 5% handles the deeper repair and lasting hydration.

Supporting actives include Coptis Japonica Root Extract (Korean goldenseal — potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory), Pomegranate Extract (antioxidant), Mangosteen Peel Extract (anti-inflammatory xanthones), Clitoria Ternatea Flower Extract (butterfly pea, natural antioxidant with blue pigment), Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (licorice, soothing), Allantoin (repair), and Polyquaternium-51 (phospholipid moisture film). How to use

01After cleansing and toner, apply 2–3 drops and pat gently into the skin.
02Use AM and PM before moisturiser. Can be layered under other serums or applied directly before cream.
03For extra calming: apply a slightly more generous amount and leave to absorb for 30–60 seconds before the next step.
